Travel influencer Maria Eftimova, 28, dies after plunging to her death while climbing a mountain.
Maria Eftimova, a 28-year-old popular travel influencer, lost her footing and fell 65 feet to her death last week while climbing the infamous Tryfan mountain in Snowdonia, Wales, with her friend Anna and Anna’s father. The BBC reports that she was on a mountain climbing expedition on the north ridge of the mountain.
After the incident, a team member in the vicinity started CPR right away, but they were unable to save her.
Within ten days, Eftimova became the second person to pass away in an accident at Eryri National Park.
The mountain, which stands at 3,010 feet, is notoriously one of the “deadliest mountains” in the UK and the world, BBC previously reported.
Following the tragic incident, Eftimova’s friend Megan Griffiths mourned the “free-spirited” adventurer and opened up about her zest for life.
Griffith told the source, “Maria was a unique individual who lived life to the fullest – not only adventurous and free-spirited but also incredibly kind, intelligent, and selfless.”
“We are utterly devastated to lose such a precious friend, and her tragic loss will be felt by many.”
Victoria Critchley, another friend, created an internet fundraising website that has since raised almost $24,000.
Critchley wrote on the listing, “Maria was a bright, ambitious, and beloved individual whose lively personality, energy, and aura touched and uplifted all around her.”
“She had a passion for engineering, having studied civil engineering at the University of Salford and a love for extreme sports.”
Critchley continued by saying that the ardent climber had a “insatiable thirst for life” and that her greatest interest was snowboarding, which she was extremely enthusiastic about and looking forward to doing again on her next trip to Austria.
“Sadly, she was taken from her family far, far too soon,” Critchley wrote.
The distraught friend went on to say that Eftimova’s family members in Bulgaria are having a difficult time returning her remains to her homeland.
The fundraiser was established to provide Eftimova with “the dignified farewell with her loved ones that she deserves,” she continued.
