Police are still holding the driver of a black BMW i40 who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by unsafe driving.
The child’s relatives paid their respects by stating: “Poppy was the center of our world; nothing mattered to us more than Poppy’s passion for football.
It was simple to see why Poppy had such a significant influence on so many people because of her infectious energy, temperament, and passion for football.
“Poppy was adamant about becoming a professional football player. Many who know her and are aware of her will to succeed and get better had no doubt that she would fulfill her dream of playing for Manchester United someday.
According to her family, she looked up to Lioness Georgia Stanway, former Barcelona star Lionel Messi, Ella Toone, Kobbie Mainoo, and players from United and England, “to name a few.”
“Despite being a small, petite, and attractive 10-year-old, she played up an age group and proudly represented the Kendal United and county U12 teams,” they stated.
On Wednesday, just before 5 p.m., officers were summoned to the Kendal Rugby Club in Cumbria.

“Poppy was sister to seven-year-old Edward,” Poppy’s family wrote in their statement. Edward admired the ground Poppy walked on and aspired to be just like her. It was so lovely to see Edward’s football game, which Poppy would coach and cheer.
“Poppy leaves a huge void in our lives and the lives of many around us; we will never be whole again. She was a natural force that this planet has lost like no other. Too good for this world, she was truly unique.
