Four people were killed, and the car was torn into pieces and shattered in the incident.

Cleveland police are investigating a crash that left four people dead.

It happened around 12:40 a.m. Wednesday along W. 106 Street between Western and Madison Avenues.

Cleveland EMS said that four people — two men and two women — were confirmed dead at the scene. All of the victims were believed to be in their 20s. Their names and exact ages were not immediately available.

Cleveland police reported that the automobile, a Hyundai Sonata, was stolen. It is unclear what led the automobile to collide with a tree. Officials stated that the crash was not the result of a police pursuit.

The scene shows the vehicle splitting into pieces and shattering when it collided with the tree. The car was towed away in pieces by two different tow trucks, and portions of the tree were missing.

The Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit was on the scene to determine what happened. Stacy Frey spoke with a neighbor, who reported hearing a car rushing down the street followed by a violent crash.

No other vehicles or homes on the street were damaged.
