Obituary and Death of Nicola Colangelo; Officials: Woodland Park child, 14, died in a bicycle accident

On Monday, local officials revealed that a 14-year-old kid from Woodland Park tragically died in a bicycling accident. Nicola Colangelo was identified as the child victim by Woodland Park Mayor Tracy Kallert.

According to police reports, Colangelo was riding his bicycle amidst traffic when he collided with the side of an SUV at the intersection of Rose Place and McBride Avenue. He was declared dead at the scene of the incident.

In a statement, Kallert expressed, “Nicola was a beloved member of our community, recognized for his vibrant spirit, infectious kindness, and exceptional sense of humor. He possessed a remarkable talent for bringing joy to those around him.”

Passaic Valley Regional High School, where Colangelo attended, provided crisis counselors on Tuesday to help pupils deal with this devastating loss. Colangelo will be buried at Santangelo Funeral Home on Sunday. On Monday morning, there will be a funeral Mass.
