FORT HAYS TECH STUDENT DAWSON HOGAN AMONG FATALITIES IN DEADLY KANSAS DUST STORM ACCIDENT

Dawson Hogan, a student at Fort Hays Tech Northwest, died in a tragic dust storm-related accident on Kansas’ Interstate 70.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that the collision happened on March 14, 2025, at around 4:45 PM, close to the town of Goodland, Kansas. Over 50 automobiles were involved in various crashes due to near-zero visibility caused by a powerful weather front with heavy winds from Colorado.

Dawson Hogan, a student at Fort Hays Tech Northwest, was traveling home to Salina to spend time with his family over spring break when the accident occurred. He was among the eight fatalities reported in the accident, with many more injured.

The Fort Hays Tech Northwest community is mourning the loss of Dawson, who was known for his kindness, ambition, and unwavering spirit. His family, friends, and community are coming together to support each other during this difficult time.

“Dawson was an exceptional young man with a bright future ahead of him,” said Dr. Joey Linn, President of Fort Hays Tech Northwest. “He will be deeply missed by our entire campus community. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”

The family of Dawson Hogan has announced the funeral arrangements as follows:

– Visitation: March 18, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St, Salina, KS 67401
– Funeral Service: March 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Salina Bible Church, 2100 E. Magnolia Rd, Salina, KS 67401
– Interment: March 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, 401 S. Halstead Rd, Salina, KS 67401
