Texas Father Arrested After Allegedly Fleeing Scene of 100 MPH Crash, Leaving Injured Wife and Four Young Children Behind

 

 

Houston, TX – A father accused of abandoning his injured family following a high-speed crash has been arrested, according to court documents. The incident occurred on March 25, 2025, in Houston’s Independence Heights neighborhood, when 40-year-old Terrance Carr allegedly fled the scene after crashing his vehicle at approximately 100 mph, leaving behind his injured wife and four children.

Incident Details

According to Houston police, Carr was driving a Ford Expedition with his wife and four children—aged 8, 4, 3, and 7 months—when the vehicle collided with a Chevrolet Avalanche near the 5300 block of Yale Street. The impact caused the SUV to flip into a ditch. An 8-year-old child was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Witnesses reported that Carr crawled out of the wreckage and fled the scene, leaving his injured family behind.

Injuries Sustained

Court documents reveal that Carr’s wife suffered a broken arm, while the 3-year-old child experienced a collapsed lung. The 8-year-old sustained abdominal injuries requiring emergency surgery. The conditions of the other two children have not been specified.

Arrest and Charges

Carr has been arrested and charged with two counts of abandoning a child with imminent danger. At the time of the crash, he was out on bond for a previous DWI with a child passenger charge from February. Witnesses at the scene reported that Carr smelled of alcohol and drugs and was heard saying, “I’m running” and “I’m wanted,” before fleeing.

Ongoing Investigation
