Aurora Police Investigating Shooting Incident on North Peoria Street After Woman Left Critically Injured and Suspect Taken into Custody; Authorities Seek Information from the Public

AURORA, COLORADO — A shooting incident on Friday afternoon left a woman critically injured and a male suspect in police custody. The Aurora Police Department (APD) responded to reports of shots fired in a parking lot located in the 600 block of North Peoria Street at approximately 5:15 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim outside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. The male suspect was located inside the vehicle with a weapon nearby. Officers issued commands for the suspect to exit the vehicle, which he did without incident. He was promptly taken into custody. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition; her current medical status has not been released.
