Northaven Tragedy: 30-Year-Old Quincy Ross Fatally Shot by Brother Broderick Ross in Midnight Dispute on Archie Drive, Body Driven Across State Lines to Arkansas Before Arrest Hours Later
NORTHAVEN, Tenn. — A deeply unsettling and heartbreaking incident has shaken the Northaven community, where a family dispute ended in the tragic death of a 30-year-old man early Saturday morning. Authorities say Quincy Ross was fatally shot by his older brother, 34-year-old Broderick Ross, just after midnight outside a residence on Archie Drive.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, the altercation between the two brothers escalated rapidly into gun violence. Witnesses reported hearing shouting followed by gunfire. Law enforcement officials were called to the scene shortly after midnight, where they discovered signs of a struggle but no victim.
Investigators say Broderick Ross didn’t remain at the scene. Instead, in a grim turn of events, he allegedly loaded Quincy’s lifeless body into a vehicle and fled the state. The search for him extended across state lines, culminating in his arrest three hours later in neighboring Arkansas. Authorities later recovered Quincy’s remains in close proximity to where Broderick was taken into custody.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear, but what is certain is that the senseless violence has left a family broken and a community reeling. Neighbors described hearing the commotion and later waking to the flashing lights of police vehicles and emergency responders. Many who live on Archie Drive were stunned, as the quiet neighborhood rarely sees violent crime, much less such an intimate and shocking act.
“I saw them playing together as kids,” said one longtime neighbor. “It’s hard to process that something like this could happen between brothers.”
Family members, still in shock, have described Quincy Ross as a kind and reserved young man, someone who avoided conflict and often stepped in to mediate tension among loved ones. His death has devastated those closest to him.
“I never imagined I’d lose both of them in one night—Quincy to violence, and Broderick to whatever darkness overtook him,” a family member shared in tears.
Broderick Ross is now facing multiple serious charges, including first-degree murder, kidnapping, and carjacking. He remains in custody as authorities continue their investigation and prepare for formal prosecution.
Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner Jr. released a brief statement, acknowledging the community’s grief and urging compassion and calm as the justice system moves forward: “This is an unimaginable tragedy, and our hearts go out to the family of Quincy Ross. We will ensure that justice is served.”
Grief counselors have been made available to community members and loved ones affected by the incident. A vigil is reportedly being planned in memory of Quincy Ross, whose life was cut short under the most tragic of circumstances.
