Trenton Community in Shock After Mother and 13-Year-Old Daughter Found Fatally Shot Inside Their Home on Saturday Morning; Authorities Search for Answers as Investigation Intensifies

In a heartbreaking and senseless act of violence, a mother and her 13-year-old daughter were found fatally shot inside their home in Trenton on Saturday morning, leaving a community stunned and grieving.
Officers responded to a 911 call around 10:30 a.m. at a residence on the 300 block of West State Street. Upon entering the home, first responders discovered the 40-year-old mother lying on a stairway leading to the third floor. Her daughter was found in a third-floor bedroom. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not publicly released the names of the victims, pending official identification and notification of next of kin. Investigators from the Mercer County Homicide Task Force are leading the investigation.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the double homicide. However, officials confirmed that a person of interest has been taken into custody on unrelated charges. It is unclear at this time whether that individual has any direct involvement in the killings.
The motive remains unknown, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.
“This is a devastating tragedy, and our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the victims,” said a spokesperson for the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office. “We are doing everything in our power to get answers and bring justice.”
Neighbors described the family as quiet and kind, expressing disbelief that such violence could strike so close to home.
