Milford Teen Tragically Killed in Early Morning Crash: Community Mourns the Loss of 18-Year-Old Maverick Westcott Following Devastating Single-Vehicle Accident on Quaker Street

A heartbreaking tragedy has rocked the Milford community following the untimely death of 18-year-old Maverick Westcott, who was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning, April 14, 2025. The fatal accident occurred on Quaker Street in nearby Northbridge, where emergency personnel responded to a devastating scene that left loved ones and neighbors in mourning.

According to the Northbridge Police Department, the crash happened around 4:15 a.m. when Westcott, who was driving a 2010 Honda Civic, lost control of the vehicle while traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. The car left the roadway, struck a guardrail, flipped, and came to rest after crashing into a tree. The violent impact crushed the roof of the vehicle, trapping Westcott inside. Despite the best efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Westcott was a beloved member of the Milford community — a recent graduate of Milford High School who had a passion for cars, a deep love for his family, and a heart full of compassion. He was well-known for his infectious smile, his willingness to help others, and his quiet but strong presence among his peers. Friends and family describe him as a kind-hearted young man who made a lasting impression on everyone he met.

“Losing Maverick is like losing a piece of our town,” said one family friend. “He was full of life, full of promise. He was someone you just expected great things from.”

Investigators from the Northbridge Police Department, in collaboration with the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit and the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction Team, are continuing to examine the circumstances of the crash. At this time, no foul play is suspected, but authorities are working diligently to confirm the contributing factors, including speed and road conditions.

The community has responded to the tragedy with an overwhelming outpouring of support. Milford High School has made grief counselors available to students and staff, and plans for a candlelight vigil are underway. The vigil is expected to be held later this week as friends, classmates, and neighbors gather to honor Westcott’s memory and support his grieving family.

In tribute to his giving nature, the Westcott family has asked that donations be made in Maverick’s honor to local youth mentorship and automotive education programs. They hope that even in loss, Maverick’s legacy will continue to inspire others and provide opportunities for young people with the same drive and curiosity that he so clearly demonstrated.

As Milford mourns this heartbreaking loss, the community remains united in grief, holding on to the memory of a young man gone far too soon — but never forgotten.

Further updates will be shared as new information becomes available regarding memorial arrangements and the ongoing investigation.
