Federal Way Police Investigating Shooting at Kitts Corner Apartments That Left 27-Year-Old Woman Injured

Federal Way, WA — A quiet night in Federal Way was shattered by gunfire late Wednesday evening after a 27-year-old woman was shot at a local apartment complex. The incident, which occurred around 9:17 p.m. at the Kitts Corner Apartments near South 336th Street and Pacific Highway South, has prompted a full-scale investigation by the Federal Way Police Department (FWPD).

According to authorities, officers were dispatched to the scene following multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired. Upon their arrival, they discovered a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately rendered first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. She was then transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she is currently receiving treatment. Police confirmed that her injuries, while serious, are not life-threatening.

The shooter fled the scene before officers arrived, and as of Thursday morning, no arrests have been made. Federal Way police are now actively searching for the suspect and have not yet released a detailed description. Investigators are reviewing security camera footage from the area and interviewing witnesses in an effort to piece together what led to the shooting.

“This is a developing investigation, and we are following every lead,” said a spokesperson from the FWPD. “We urge anyone who may have seen something or has information about this incident to come forward. Even the smallest detail could help us identify the person responsible.”

While the motive behind the shooting remains unknown, this incident has added to growing concerns about gun violence in the Federal Way area. The city has experienced a series of violent events over recent months, including several shootings involving both adults and juveniles. Residents have expressed fear and frustration over the escalating violence and are calling for increased police presence and community engagement to address the root causes.

“I’ve lived here for years, and it’s heartbreaking to see what’s happening,” said Maria Lopez, a resident of the Kitts Corner Apartments. “We need more patrols, better lighting, and resources to prevent this kind of violence.”

In response to the uptick in shootings, Federal Way Police Chief Andy Hwang has implemented additional patrols and continues to work closely with city leaders and community organizations to develop long-term strategies to reduce crime. “We understand the community’s concerns, and we are committed to ensuring the safety of every resident,” Chief Hwang said in a recent statement. “Gun violence has no place in our city.”

Anyone with information related to the shooting is urged to contact the Federal Way Police Department at (253) 835-2121. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the department’s website or Crime Stoppers.

As the investigation continues, city officials and residents alike are hopeful for a swift arrest and a renewed focus on community safety. The victim’s identity has not been released out of respect for her privacy and the ongoing investigation. Updates will be provided as more details become available.
