Richard Peter Jarosak, Jr. (Pete), 63, Remembered for His Warm Heart, Devotion to Family, and Unshakable Positivity

Lakeland, MN — It is with heavy hearts that the family of Richard Peter Jarosak, Jr.—known fondly as Pete—announces his passing on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025. Surrounded by the love and presence of his family at his home in Lakeland, Minnesota, Pete passed away peacefully at the age of 63.

Born in Minneapolis in 1962, Pete grew up in New Brighton and was a proud graduate of Irondale High School, class of 1980. Known for his hardworking nature and warm, infectious spirit, Pete spent much of his professional life in the manufacturing industry before transitioning to work alongside his brother-in-law, Jim Golden, at the beloved Golden’s Deli in St. Paul. Whether on the job or at home, Pete was admired for his dedication, reliability, and the genuine joy he brought to others.

But it was in his personal life that Pete’s impact was most deeply felt. A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Pete’s greatest pride was the life he built with his beloved wife of 37 years, Susan Jarosak. Together, they raised two sons—Ben (Sally) and Bryan—whom he adored and supported with unwavering love. Pete was the kind of father who showed up—whether it was for baseball games, school events, or quiet family dinners. His presence was a constant source of strength and comfort.

Pete is survived by a loving and extended family, including his mother, Barbara, his siblings Kathy (Rick) Wright and Tim (Shannon) Jarosak, and his cherished nieces and nephews who knew him as a gentle soul and enthusiastic storyteller. Also mourning his loss are his aunt Karen Anderson, sisters-in-law Kathy (Jim) Golden and DeeAnn (Doyle) Fetterer, and a host of extended family members who treasured the warmth of his smile and his easy-going nature.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Peter Jarosak, Sr., whose memory Pete carried with him always.

Pete’s passions were as genuine as they were simple. He found joy in fishing, especially Minnesota’s peaceful lakes, cheering for the Minnesota Twins with loyal fervor, belting out Bruce Springsteen songs with the spirit of a lifelong fan, and going on memorable vacations with Susan and their boys. He was a neighbor you could count on, a friend who listened without judgment, and a man who lived with quiet integrity and abundant heart.

In his final days, Pete was cared for with compassion by Lakeview Hospice, for which the family extends their deepest gratitude. Their support helped make it possible for Pete to spend his final moments at home, embraced by those he loved.

At the request of the family, a private service will be held to honor Pete’s life. While his absence will be deeply felt, his legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through kindness, generosity, and enduring love.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Pete’s memory to Feline Rescue, an organization that reflects Pete’s gentle care for animals and his belief in the importance of compassion.
