SHREVEPORT, LA — Violent Dispute in Broadmoor Leaves Man Critically Injured in Thursday Afternoon Shooting on Greenway Place

SHREVEPORT, LA — A peaceful Thursday afternoon in Shreveport’s Broadmoor neighborhood was shattered by gunfire after a personal dispute erupted into violence, leaving a man in his 30s with life-threatening injuries. The incident took place around 2:30 p.m. on Greenway Place, just off Youree Drive, in an otherwise quiet residential area, according to Shreveport Police.

The victim, whose identity has not yet been publicly released, was reportedly shot multiple times outside a private residence following what officials believe was a heated argument between known parties. The exact cause of the dispute remains under investigation, but preliminary reports suggest it stemmed from an ongoing personal or domestic issue.

Neighbors described a chaotic and terrifying scene.

“I was inside when I heard the shots,” said a Greenway Place resident, who asked to remain anonymous. “I ran to the window and saw someone lying in the driveway. Moments later, police and ambulances were all over the street.”

First responders from the Shreveport Fire Department arrived within minutes and found the victim in critical condition. Paramedics performed emergency life-saving measures on the scene before transporting him to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, where he was rushed into surgery. As of Thursday evening, the man remains in the hospital in critical but stable condition.

Shreveport Police quickly secured the area, placing yellow crime scene tape around the home and beginning an extensive investigation. Detectives combed the scene for evidence, collecting shell casings and reviewing nearby surveillance footage from doorbell cameras and home security systems in hopes of identifying the shooter and clarifying what led to the violent outburst.

While the suspect’s identity has not been officially released, investigators believe the individual is known to the victim, and they do not believe there is a broader threat to the public. Authorities are currently interviewing witnesses and are urging anyone with additional information to come forward.

“This is yet another example of how quickly a disagreement can spiral into something devastating,” said Sgt. Melvin Carter, a spokesperson for the Shreveport Police Department. “We are asking for the community’s help in bringing accountability to this senseless act of violence.”

The incident has stirred concern among residents of the Broadmoor neighborhood, which is typically regarded as a safe and family-friendly part of the city. Community leaders and local activists are calling for increased attention to conflict resolution and mental health support, particularly in cases of domestic tension.

“It’s heartbreaking to see this kind of violence on our streets,” said Rev. Larry Fielder, a local pastor and community advocate. “We need more resources to help people de-escalate these situations before they turn tragic. Too many families are being torn apart.”

The shooting comes amid a troubling rise in gun-related violence across Shreveport in recent months. According to the Shreveport Police Department’s crime data, the city has seen a notable increase in shootings and aggravated assaults compared to the same period last year.

As the victim continues to fight for his life, police are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything around the time of the shooting to contact Shreveport Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373. Anonymous tips may be eligible for a cash reward.

Counseling services have been made available to neighbors and family members affected by the traumatic event, and local officials have reiterated the need for unity and vigilance within the community.

More information is expected to be released in the coming days as the investigation unfolds and the victim’s condition is updated. In the meantime, residents of Broadmoor remain on edge, hoping for justice and healing after a day that began in quiet routine and ended in heartbreak.
