Man Identified as Antwan Washington Fatally Shot During Late-Night Gathering in North Tulsa; Police Seek Information as Investigation Into Sunday Night Homicide Continues
Tulsa, OK – April 28, 2025 — A somber mood has descended over a North Tulsa neighborhood after a man was shot and killed during a late-night gathering on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Tulsa Police have confirmed the identity of the victim as 46-year-old Antwan Washington.
Authorities say the shooting occurred shortly around 10:00 p.m. in the 800 block of East 52nd Street North. Multiple 911 calls from concerned neighbors flooded emergency lines after gunshots rang out in the normally quiet residential area.
Responding officers arrived at the scene within minutes and found Washington inside the home, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Tulsa Fire Department paramedics provided immediate aid and transported him to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, Washington succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival, hospital officials confirmed.
Witnesses told police that a small party or social gathering had been underway at the home earlier in the evening. It remains unclear what led to the violence, but investigators believe an altercation may have escalated, ultimately resulting in the fatal shooting.
“We are actively interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence to piece together exactly what transpired,” said Tulsa Police Sergeant Marcus Harper. “At this time, we are pursuing all leads and asking for the public’s assistance.”
As of Monday morning, no suspects have been officially identified, and no arrests have been made. Tulsa Police detectives have been canvassing the neighborhood and reviewing any available surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses in hopes of gathering critical information.
Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious around the time of the incident to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously by contacting Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
Neighbors expressed shock and sadness in the aftermath of the shooting. Several residents described Washington as a familiar face in the area, known for his friendly demeanor.
“It’s heartbreaking,” said one neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. “You don’t expect something like this to happen right next door. We’re all shaken up.”
This latest shooting adds to a troubling pattern of violence that has plagued parts of Tulsa in recent months. Community leaders are calling for renewed efforts toward conflict resolution and community engagement to prevent further bloodshed.
“We must work together as a community to stop these senseless acts of violence,” said City Councilor Vanessa Hall-Harper, who represents the area. “Every life lost is a tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. Washington during this devastating time.”
Funeral arrangements for Antwan Washington have not yet been announced. Friends and loved ones have begun posting tributes to social media, remembering him as a father, brother, and friend whose life was cut tragically short.
The investigation remains ongoing. Tulsa Police urge anyone with relevant information to come forward, stressing that even small details could be crucial to solving the case.
