Quitman Man Khalil Proctor, 20, Arrested for Fatally Shooting Edward Dennison, 25, in Late-Night Homicide on West Hill Street; GBI Investigating Motive Behind Tragic Incident

 

 

 

QUITMAN, Ga. — A quiet Georgia town is reeling after a deadly shooting Monday night left one man dead and another facing serious criminal charges. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested 20-year-old Khalil Proctor of Quitman in connection with the homicide of 25-year-old Edward Dennison.

The fatal shooting occurred at approximately 10:14 p.m. on April 28 at a residence located at 201 W. Hill Street in Quitman. Emergency services were called to the scene following reports of gunfire, and officers arrived to find Dennison with critical gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, Dennison succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the hours following the incident, investigators from the GBI and the Quitman Police Department began piecing together what transpired. Through interviews and evidence collected at the scene, authorities were able to quickly identify Proctor as the alleged shooter.

Proctor has been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He is currently being held without bond at the Brooks County Jail as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not released details on what led to the altercation or whether the victim and suspect knew one another. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the GBI has confirmed that the case is still active and under investigation.
