Second Victim Identified in Deadly Arlington QuikTrip Shooting; 17-Year-Old Charged with Capital Murder
ARLINGTON, Texas — The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has officially identified the second victim in a tragic double homicide that occurred late Saturday night at a QuikTrip gas station in Arlington. The fatal shooting, which took place on April 26, claimed the lives of two young men and left a third injured. Authorities have since charged a 17-year-old suspect with capital murder and aggravated assault.
According to the Arlington Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of South Cooper Street just after 10 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered two young men—identified as 20-year-old Omed Abdal and 19-year-old Ayaz Mohsin Abdullah—lying unresponsive in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. Both victims were rushed to the hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner confirmed Sunday that Omed Abdal died in the hospital emergency room. On Monday, the second victim was identified as Ayaz Mohsin Abdullah, who also passed away in the ER.
A third individual, a 19-year-old man whose name has not been publicly released, was also injured in the incident. He suffered a gunshot wound to the foot and was treated and released from the hospital.
Police said that several individuals involved in the altercation—including the alleged shooter—remained on scene when officers arrived. They were immediately detained as part of the investigation.
Authorities have since arrested 17-year-old Saman Islam in connection with the shooting. Islam is facing serious charges: one count of capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A judge has set his bond at $1,000,000 for the capital murder charge and $100,000 for the assault charge.
Investigators have not yet disclosed a motive for the shooting but stated that the parties involved were acquainted. They are continuing to piece together the circumstances that led to the deadly confrontation.
The Arlington Police Department is urging anyone with additional information or footage related to the incident to come forward as they continue their investigation.
The community is left reeling after the loss of two young lives and the sudden eruption of violence at what is normally a busy but routine gas station location. The tragic event serves as another stark reminder of the far-reaching consequences of gun violence and youth conflict.
