Tucson Tragedy: 24-Year-Old Bianey Franco Killed in Motorcycle Crash, SUV Driver Blamed for Failing to Yield

TUCSON, Ariz. — A devastating motorcycle accident in Tucson has resulted in the city’s 16th biker fatality of the year and the arrest of a 22-year-old driver on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). The crash, which unfolded late Saturday night, has left the community reeling and reignited concerns about the deadly consequences of impaired driving on Arizona roads.

According to the Tucson Police Department, the collision occurred near the intersection of East Broadway Boulevard and South Arcadia Avenue shortly before midnight. Authorities say 24-year-old Bianey Franco, a motorcyclist, was traveling westbound on Broadway when a 2007 Lincoln SUV attempted to make a northbound turn onto Arcadia directly in the path of Franco’s bike.

Despite wearing a helmet, Franco suffered catastrophic injuries in the impact. First responders arrived quickly, but Franco was pronounced dead at the scene. Friends and family describe her as vibrant, hardworking, and full of life—a loss that has devastated those who knew her.

The driver of the SUV, a 22-year-old Tucson resident whose name has not yet been publicly released, remained at the scene and was taken into custody after reportedly failing a field sobriety test. He now faces multiple charges, including DUI and possible vehicular manslaughter, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

“This tragic incident serves as yet another grim reminder of the dangers posed by impaired driving,” said a spokesperson for the Tucson Police Department. “Motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable, and every life lost is a profound tragedy for our community.”

The crash is now under active investigation by Tucson’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit. Officials noted that this is the 16th motorcycle-related fatality in Tucson in 2025, a statistic that has raised red flags among traffic safety advocates and city officials alike.

Local organizations such as Look Save a Life Arizona are once again urging drivers to stay sober, stay alert, and share the road responsibly. They are calling for renewed community efforts to prevent further loss of life.

Franco’s loved ones are now planning a memorial to honor her memory. Her family is expected to release further details in the coming days.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information to contact Tucson Police at (520) 791-4444 or submit tips anonymously through 88-CRIME.

This heartbreaking case is a stark call to action: impaired driving destroys lives—instantly and irreversibly.
