Tragedy in Lynchburg: 25-Year-Old Zaykeese Amarius Brown Fatally Shot on Bedford Avenue — Police Pursue Key Lead in Ongoing Homicide Investigation

 

 

 

LYNCHBURG, VA – May 7, 2025 — The Lynchburg Police Department has publicly identified the victim in a fatal Tuesday night shooting as 25-year-old Zaykeese Amarius Brown, a beloved Lynchburg resident whose sudden death has shaken his community.

The incident unfolded late Tuesday evening on the 1300 block of Bedford Avenue. Officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire around 10:45 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Brown suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite immediate lifesaving measures performed at the scene, Brown was pronounced dead shortly after emergency personnel arrived.

Police have launched a full-scale homicide investigation into the deadly shooting. Surveillance footage recovered from a nearby property has provided a critical lead: one camera angle reportedly captured a lone individual walking away from the scene shortly after the gunfire erupted. Authorities believe this person may be connected to the shooting and are actively working to identify and locate them.

In a solemn public statement, the Lynchburg Police Department extended condolences to Brown’s grieving family:
