Waco Man Goes Wild: Smashes Girlfriend’s Car With Crowbar, Resists Arrest After Taser Showdown
BEVERLY HILLS, Texas (May 7, 2025) — A 24-year-old Waco man is behind bars after authorities say he chased his girlfriend with a crowbar and smashed her car during a violent outburst early Monday morning. The suspect, identified as Romeo Love, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department.
The incident unfolded just before dawn on May 6, when officers were dispatched to the 900 block of South Valley Mills Drive at approximately 4:44 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from a 19-year-old woman reporting a domestic disturbance.
According to police, the woman said she and Love had been involved in a heated argument. When she attempted to leave the scene, Love allegedly became enraged and began chasing her with a crowbar.
Violent Outburst Caught on Scene
Fearing for her safety, the woman told officers she fled to her car and got inside. At that point, Love allegedly began striking and damaging the vehicle with the crowbar, causing visible destruction to the exterior. Police later observed and documented the damage as part of their investigation.
Responding officers located Love still at the scene, standing in the parking lot near the vehicle. They attempted to detain him, but according to police, Love refused to comply with commands and began resisting arrest.
Tense Arrest: Tasers Deployed
Officers stated that they managed to secure one of Love’s arms in handcuffs but that he then physically resisted, refusing to cooperate with further commands.
As the situation escalated, officers warned Love that a Taser would be deployed if he continued to resist. When he failed to comply, police discharged a Taser, but the first attempt was ineffective due to a misplaced probe. Officers then deployed a second Taser cycle, which successfully made contact.
Despite continued commands and warnings, Love allegedly refused to stop resisting, prompting officers to apply a second electric cycle. Following the second jolt, police say Love finally began to calm down and could be heard saying, “I’m good,” before asking them to stop.
Medical Evaluation and Jail Booking
Paramedics with American Medical Response (AMR) arrived on the scene to evaluate Love following the use of force. According to police, he remained argumentative with medical personnel and stated that he didn’t need treatment.
As a precaution, Love was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. After being medically cleared, he was booked into the McLennan County Jail, where he is currently being held on a total bond of $12,000.
Ongoing Investigation
Police have not released additional details about the extent of the damage to the victim’s vehicle or whether any protective orders have been issued in connection with the case.
Domestic violence advocates in the area are once again urging the public to recognize the warning signs of abusive behavior and to report any incidents of violence immediately.
“This case is a reminder that domestic disputes can escalate quickly and dangerously,” said one local counselor. “It’s critical for victims to know they’re not alone, and there are resources available to help them leave unsafe situations.”
Authorities have not confirmed whether Love has retained legal counsel. The case remains under investigation, and further charges could be considered depending on the outcome.
