“23-Year-Old Markus Graham Arrested for Murder of Jesse Jamison, 47, Found Shot Dead in Crashed Truck”
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — After months of relentless investigation, Rochester Police Department (RPD) has arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the murder of Jesse Jamison, a 47-year-old man who was found shot to death inside a pick-up truck that crashed and partially caught fire in late January.
The suspect, Markus Graham, is now facing second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon charges. Authorities say the arrest marks a significant breakthrough in a case that had left the community on edge and Jamison’s family searching for answers.
The tragic incident unfolded around 10:45 p.m. on Coulton Place, just off South Plymouth Avenue, when emergency crews responded to a reported vehicle crash. Upon arrival, firefighters and police discovered a pickup truck that had struck a parked car. Shockingly, the truck’s rear wheels were engulfed in flames, and inside, Jamison was found slumped in the driver’s seat, dead from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
What initially appeared to be a traffic accident quickly turned into a homicide investigation.
Investigators determined that Jamison had been shot prior to the crash, and evidence gathered from the scene — along with subsequent forensic and witness work — pointed detectives toward Graham as the primary suspect. Authorities have since confirmed that Graham and Jamison were acquainted, though the motive behind the shooting has not yet been publicly disclosed.
On Thursday afternoon, RPD officers located and arrested Graham on Ames Street. During the arrest, he was found in possession of a loaded handgun, further compounding the seriousness of the charges he now faces.
“This arrest is the result of diligent work by our homicide investigators and continued collaboration with our community,” said a spokesperson for the Rochester Police Department. “We understand the impact these violent crimes have, not just on families, but on entire neighborhoods. Bringing this suspect into custody is a step forward in securing justice for Mr. Jamison and restoring safety to our city.”
Graham is expected to be arraigned Friday morning in Rochester City Court, where he will formally face the charges.
As the case proceeds through the legal system, Jamison’s family is left mourning the sudden and violent loss of a man they describe as kind-hearted and loved by many.
“We’ve waited three months for answers,” said a family member. “We’re grateful that an arrest has been made, but nothing will bring Jesse back.”
RPD continues to urge anyone with additional information about the case to come forward as they finalize the investigation and build their case for prosecution.
