May 12, 2025 — It is with deep sorrow and reverent reflection that we share the news of the passing of Reverend James D. Crofts, a beloved servant of God, spiritual guide, and cherished friend to many. Rev. Crofts passed away shortly after noon today, May 12, 2025, after a courageous battle with a life-long illness that he bore silently and with unwavering faith. He was 63 years old.

Known for his humble heart, unwavering devotion, and compassionate ministry, Rev. Crofts served the church faithfully for over three decades. He was more than a priest—he was a brother in Christ, a mentor to young clergy, and a comforting presence to the many parishioners whose lives he touched over the years.

Though his illness remained largely private, those closest to him knew that he lived with persistent health challenges for most of his life. Even so, he never allowed his suffering to overshadow his mission. His quiet strength and determination enabled him to carry out his priestly duties with grace, kindness, and a constant readiness to serve others before himself.

In the final weeks of his life, Rev. Crofts was admitted to intensive care. Hopes remained high that he would recover and return to the pulpit, where his voice had long been a source of comfort and conviction. His passing, though deeply sorrowful, is seen by many as a peaceful homecoming—a fulfillment of the promises he so often preached about, as he now rests in the arms of his Savior.

Throughout his ministry, Rev. Crofts was known for his passion for scripture, his pastoral care for the sick and grieving, and his ability to bring people together in prayer and purpose. His sermons were marked not by fanfare but by sincerity, theological depth, and a heartfelt invitation to faith. His office doors were always open, whether someone needed guidance, forgiveness, or simply a listening ear.

Friends and colleagues described him as a man of immense integrity, gentle wisdom, and a deep understanding of the human spirit. “James never sought the spotlight,” said one fellow priest. “He served for the joy of the Lord, and for the love of the people. His absence will leave a great hole in our hearts, but his example will remain a guiding light.”

Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days. A special Mass in celebration of his life and service is expected to draw clergy and laypeople from across the region. Parishioners and friends are encouraged to share their memories and messages of tribute, which will be compiled into a memorial book for the community.

As we mourn the loss of Rev. James D. Crofts, we also give thanks for the extraordinary life he lived. May he rest in the eternal peace of Christ, and may his soul be received with joy in the heavenly realms he so often spoke of with faith and hope.

Rest in peace, James. We will miss you deeply.
