Heartbreak in Richmond: Community Grieves the Sudden Loss of Reed ‘Lamargaret’ Bolser at 28

Richmond, IN – With hearts full of sorrow and gratitude, the Richmond and Liberty communities are mourning the passing of Reed Alexander Bolser, a vibrant, faithful, and beloved young man who left this world far too soon. Reed passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the age of 28, leaving behind a legacy defined by hard work, deep-rooted faith, and a joyful spirit that could light up any room—or forest.

Born on March 3, 1997, to Rick and Lori Bolser, Reed grew up in the small town of Liberty, Indiana, where he built the foundation for a life full of adventure, dedication, and deep personal values. From the beginning, Reed lived life with intensity and purpose, embodying the true spirit of the American heartland.

A Life Lived with Grit, Grace, and Gospel

Reed’s childhood was a living tribute to all things Americana. Friends and family recall him running through the woods with his dog Lilly Jo, hunting, fishing, chopping wood, working on vehicles with his father, and occasionally getting into “Duke Brothers-style” mischief with his best friends. Reed’s zest for life was always paired with an unapologetic love for God and country, and he grew into a man who held tight to both.

He graduated from Union County High School in 2015, where he made lifelong friendships, and went on to complete his studies at Purdue Polytechnic in 2019, preparing for a professional path that would blend technical skill with personal integrity. Though he worked at Contract Industrial Tooling as a Quality Technician and Creaform Specialist, his true passion pulsed strongest through the sawdust and sunlight of tree work.

Reed was the proud founder and operator of Homeland Tree Care, a business he ran in the evenings and on weekends—often powered by little more than peanuts and energy drinks. Whether climbing towering trees or meticulously sharpening chainsaws, Reed brought unmatched determination and grit to everything he did. Friends say he was most alive when he was in the trees, covered in sawdust, and free.

A Soul Set on Sharing God’s Word

While Reed excelled at many things, his life’s greatest mission was not found in a career or a business, but in his faith. He was a deeply spiritual man whose desire was to share the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. One of his favorite scriptures, which he often quoted, was:

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” — Ephesians 2:8-9

Reed was a committed member of Faith Baptist Church, where he regularly worshiped and served alongside his beloved wife, Abigail (Abby) Bolser, whom he married just over a year and a half ago. Their marriage was a beautiful example of mutual respect, faith, laughter, and shared purpose. Together, they radiated joy and commitment, both to one another and to their shared belief in God’s grace.

A Man Loved by All

Reed’s passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his devoted wife Abigail Bolser, parents Rick and Lori Bolser, his brother Ryan Bolser and sister-in-law Vanessa, his sister Anna Soper and brother-in-law Tyler, his precious niece and nephew Wrenley and Roman Bolser, and his cherished grandmothers Carol Byrd and Margaret Bolser.

He also leaves behind his lifelong best friend Ben Peters and Ben’s family, including bonus nieces and nephews Bailey, Bentley, and Beckham Peters, along with another close friend and “brother by choice,” Tristan Adams. Reed’s community of friends, extended family, and fellow believers spans far and wide, and all who knew him speak of his loyalty, humor, work ethic, and the bold authenticity that made him unforgettable.

Reed now joins in eternal rest his grandfathers, Gene Byrd and Russell Bolser, and his loyal dog Lilly Jo, who no doubt greeted him on Heaven’s shores.

In Reed’s own way, he lived as if every day were an opportunity to climb higher—not just in trees, but in character, conviction, and compassion. Though his time on Earth was short, Reed Alexander Bolser leaves behind a towering example of what it means to live fully, love faithfully, and serve the Lord boldly.
