Tragedy in Brooklyn: Pregnant Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run After Beyoncé Concert
Brooklyn, NY – May 25, 2025 — What began as a joyful and unforgettable evening ended in heartbreak and devastation for the loved ones of 32-year-old Tiffany Cifuni, who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident late Saturday night. The fatal collision occurred in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood just hours after Tiffany attended a Beyoncé concert — an event she had been looking forward to for months. Tiffany, who had recently shared the news with close family and friends that she was in the early stages of pregnancy, never made it home.
According to authorities, the collision happened around 11:45 p.m. near the intersection of Malcolm X Boulevard and Halsey Street. Witnesses say Tiffany was crossing the street with a friend when a dark-colored sedan traveling at a high rate of speed ran a red light and struck her. The impact sent her several feet into the air. The vehicle did not stop, fleeing the scene without slowing down.
Emergency responders arrived within minutes, but despite efforts by paramedics and later trauma teams at Kings County Hospital, Tiffany was pronounced dead shortly after midnight. Her unborn child also did not survive.
Tiffany’s death has left her family and the community reeling. Described as vibrant, kind-hearted, and full of life, Tiffany worked as a youth counselor at a nonprofit organization in Brooklyn, where she mentored underserved teens and helped young women navigate challenging environments. She was also a beloved sister, daughter, and friend whose joy was infectious and whose dreams were just beginning to blossom.
“She was so excited about the baby,” said her older sister, Melissa Cifuni. “She talked about names, baby clothes, everything. That night was supposed to be one of happiness — she loved Beyoncé. We can’t believe she’s gone.”
The concert had been a celebration for Tiffany, who was entering what she called a “new chapter” in her life. Friends say she wore a bright smile all night and shared the news of her pregnancy with a few close companions during the evening. “She radiated happiness,” said longtime friend Janelle Thomas. “You could feel it. It was like she had everything to look forward to.”
The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is currently investigating the incident. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses is being reviewed, and investigators are urging the public to come forward with any tips that may help identify the driver. As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made and the suspect remains at large.
“We are treating this as a top priority,” said Deputy Chief Ronald Freemont during a press briefing. “The driver who did this left a woman dying in the street and fled. We are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything to come forward. Help us bring justice to Tiffany and her family.”
The tragic incident has also reignited calls for improved pedestrian safety in Bedford-Stuyvesant, a neighborhood that has seen an uptick in reckless driving and traffic fatalities over the past year. Advocates are calling for stricter traffic enforcement, speed cameras, and improved street lighting.
“Tiffany’s death is not just a tragedy — it’s an indictment of the continued danger pedestrians face in this city,” said transportation advocate Malcolm Reid of the group Brooklyn Streets Matter. “We need action before another family loses a loved one.”
A memorial of flowers, candles, and handwritten notes has begun to grow at the corner where Tiffany was struck. Messages of heartbreak and remembrance flood social media, with many using the hashtag #JusticeForTiffany to call for accountability.
In addition to her work with youth, Tiffany was known for her passion for music, community service, and a contagious laugh that could brighten any room. Friends say she was looking forward to starting a family and had already begun decorating a nursery in soft greens and yellows.
“She was a light,” said co-worker Daniel Robeson. “She was a woman who turned pain into purpose and gave love freely. And now, we’re left with a hole no one can fill.”
A candlelight vigil is planned for Monday evening at Herbert Von King Park, where Tiffany often led community wellness events and youth group sessions. Her family has also launched a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses and support the causes she cared deeply about.
As the investigation continues, Tiffany Cifuni is remembered as a woman whose life was filled with promise and whose death has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her.
“She was coming home,” Melissa Cifuni said through tears. “She should’ve made it home.”
