BREAKING NEWS: Gunfire Erupts Outside Crescent City Movie Theater—Community Shaken by Shocking Drive-By Shooting

CRESCENT CITY, CA (May 28, 2025) — A terrifying scene unfolded outside a local movie theater in Crescent City late Wednesday night when a vehicle pulled up and opened fire on a crowd of people gathered near the entrance. Witnesses described the incident as chaotic and traumatizing, with one bystander stating, “This car just shot up at a bunch of people at the movie theater. We were all outside, and they shot five times, stopped, then unloaded again.”

The shooting reportedly occurred around 9:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the Crescent City Cinema, where dozens of families, teens, and moviegoers had gathered for the evening’s late screenings. According to multiple eyewitness accounts, a dark-colored vehicle—possibly a sedan—slowly drove by the crowd before suddenly stopping and opening fire without warning.

“They fired off five rounds, paused like they were waiting for something… then just started unloading again,” said a shaken witness who requested anonymity for safety reasons. “People were screaming, running, dropping to the ground—pure chaos. It scared the crap out of all of us.”

Initial reports from Crescent City Police confirm that multiple 911 calls were made in rapid succession. Officers and emergency responders arrived on the scene within minutes to secure the area, assist victims, and begin an investigation. At this time, authorities have not confirmed the number of victims or the extent of injuries, but several individuals were seen receiving treatment from EMTs before being transported to nearby hospitals.

Social media quickly lit up with posts from those who were present, urging others to share any information that might help identify the suspect or suspects. “Everyone share so we can find them—absolutely insane!” one user posted in a plea that has now gone viral among Crescent City residents.

As of early Thursday morning, police had not released details regarding the suspects or the vehicle involved. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses is currently being reviewed, and detectives are urging anyone with cellphone videos, photos, or eyewitness accounts to come forward immediately.

Crescent City Police Chief Angela Marlowe issued a brief statement just after midnight:

“We are deeply disturbed by tonight’s senseless act of violence. Our officers are actively working every lead and combing through surveillance footage to identify the perpetrators. We ask the public to remain calm and vigilant. If you saw anything, please report it. No detail is too small.”

Though unconfirmed, some witnesses believe the shooting may have been targeted, while others fear it was a random act meant to intimidate or incite panic. The theater has announced it will remain closed until further notice as investigators continue to gather evidence and speak to witnesses.

No arrests have been made as of this publication. Community members are being urged to stay alert, report any suspicious activity, and avoid sharing unverified rumors online as law enforcement pieces together what transpired.

“We’re okay,” the witness said, “but just witnessed it, and it scared the crap out of us. I just hope they’re okay and that they catch that little punk who did this.”

Authorities have set up a tip line for any information related to the shooting. Anyone who may have seen the vehicle involved or who has relevant footage is encouraged to contact the Crescent City Police Department immediately at (707) XXX-XXXX or submit tips anonymously through their CrimeStoppers line.

This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
