Dallas Man Killed in High-Speed Crash Identified as Jacob; Investigation Reveals Other Driver Was Going 99 MPH in 40 MPH Zone

DALLAS, TX — Heartbreak reverberates through a Dallas family and surrounding community after the devastating loss of Jacob, a young father who was killed in a violent crash last Thursday afternoon. Now, Dallas Police have confirmed they are investigating the wreck as a case of criminally negligent homicide.

The family announced the tragic news in an emotional statement:

“It is with a heavy heart that our family shares the loss of our son Jacob in a tragic car accident. The wreck occurred in Dallas and Dallas PD are investigating it as a criminally negligent homicide. Please keep us in your prayers, especially his son Liston.”

The fatal collision occurred on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at approximately 3:50 p.m. According to the family and preliminary findings shared with them by investigators, Jacob was making a lawful left turn on a protected green arrow off Forest Lane when another vehicle, traveling at 99 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone, ran a red light and slammed into the passenger side of his car.

The impact was catastrophic and left Jacob with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead shortly after the crash.

Dallas Police are actively investigating the crash, which now carries the designation of criminally negligent homicide — a serious felony under Texas law, typically charged when a person’s recklessness or gross inattention leads to the death of another.

As of now, authorities have not publicly released the identity of the other driver or confirmed whether any arrests have been made. Investigators are continuing to review traffic camera footage, analyze data from the vehicles involved, and interview witnesses to build their case.

Jacob, remembered fondly as a devoted father, son, and friend, leaves behind a young son named Liston, whose life will be forever changed by this senseless tragedy.

The family’s pain is shared by countless others who knew Jacob and have taken to social media to express their condolences. Many are calling for justice — and for greater accountability for dangerous driving on city streets.

A memorial service to honor Jacob’s life is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Lakepointe Church in Mesquite, with further details expected in the coming days.

Dallas Police are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to contact their Traffic Division at (214) 671-0011.
