Beloved Community Pillar and Devoted Family Man Donald Warren Richardson Passes Away, Leaving Enduring Legacy of Love, Hard Work, and Unwavering Kindness
Glen Arm, Maryland — A wave of grief and heartfelt remembrance has swept through the Glen Arm community following the passing of Donald Warren Richardson on May 29, 2025. A devoted family man, lifelong farmer, and kind-hearted neighbor, Don’s legacy leaves an indelible mark on those who knew and loved him.
Donald, 65, was the beloved husband of 44 years to Jill Marie (Chilcoat) Richardson, and a pillar of strength and gentleness to his entire family. He was a loving father to Mandy Nelson (husband Tyler), Leanna Richardson, and Kerrie Richardson (husband Milton Benitez). His pride and joy came from his role as a grandfather to Nora and Donald Nelson, who brought him immeasurable happiness and lit up his life in his later years.
Born to Barbara (Meyers) Richardson and the late William W. Richardson, Don was one of several siblings in a close-knit family. He is survived by Marty Richardson, Sr. (wife Jackie), John Richardson (wife Christine), Diane Richardson, Leslie Richardson, and Wesley Richardson. He also shared a special bond with his brother-in-law Carvel Chilcoat (wife Denise) and sister-in-law Judy Phillips, as well as a wide circle of extended family and friends.
Don’s presence on the Richardson family farm was more than just that of a dedicated worker—it was the heart and soul of the operation. Through long days and changing seasons, Don nurtured the land with his hands and the people around him with his heart. Whether greeting customers with a friendly smile or working beside his children in the fields, Don’s steady presence and kind spirit became a defining part of the local farming community.
His passions were simple but rich in meaning. Don loved traveling with his family—especially to Florida, spending weekends at the dirt track races, cheering on his favorite hockey teams, and being surrounded by loved ones during holidays and family cookouts. He was happiest when he was home, surrounded by family, and enjoying the laughter of his grandchildren.
Known to those closest to him as a “dog whisperer,” Don shared a deep, intuitive bond with his dogs, Ruby, Duncan, and the late Lacey. Whether walking the fields with them or relaxing after a long day, his love for animals reflected his quiet empathy and the gentle way he moved through life.
To honor Don’s life and memory, the Richardson family will host a community gathering at the Richardson Barn, 6040 Glen Arm Road, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family warmly invites all who knew Don—family, friends, neighbors, customers, and community members—to come together, share memories, and celebrate a life filled with love, hard work, and unwavering kindness.
Funeral services and entombment will be held privately.
In tribute to Don’s love for both his community and animals, the family requests that memorial donations be made in his honor to the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company (www.wmvfc.org) or to an animal rescue or charity of your choice.
The Richardson family has expressed deep gratitude for the continued outpouring of support during this difficult time. As they grieve the loss of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, they take solace in knowing that Don’s memory will live on in the many lives he touched and in every corner of the farm he loved so dearly.
