Tragic Head-On Crash on M-13 Claims Life of Pinconning Graduate Aiden Alexander; Sister Halen Critically Injured

 

PINCONNING, Mich — A deadly head-on collision on Thursday afternoon has taken the life of a recently graduated Pinconning student and seriously injured his sister in a crash that shook the local community.

According to Bay County Sheriff Troy Cunningham, 18-year-old Aiden Alexander was driving southbound on M-13 near the Town and Country store around 2:54 p.m. on May 29, 2025, in a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. Accompanying him in the vehicle were his 16-year-old sister, Halen Alexander, and their family dog.

The crash occurred when a 68-year-old man from Tawas, driving a northbound 2013 GMC Sierra, crossed over the center turn lane into the southbound lane, colliding head-on with the Alexander siblings’ vehicle.

The impact was fatal for Aiden Alexander, who was pronounced dead at McLaren Bay Region Hospital in Bay City. His sister, Halen, was transported to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw with serious injuries but is currently reported to be in stable condition. The family’s dog survived the crash unharmed.

The 68-year-old man driving the GMC Sierra was also seriously injured and is in critical condition at MyMichigan Medical Center in Saginaw.

Investigators are actively examining the circumstances that led to the man crossing into oncoming traffic. Authorities have not yet released details on whether impairment, medical issues, or mechanical failure played a role in the crash.

The Pinconning community mourns the loss of Aiden Alexander, a promising young man and recent high school graduate whose life was tragically cut short. Friends, family, and classmates have expressed their sorrow and extended condolences to the Alexander family.

Sheriff Cunningham reminded the public of the importance of safe driving practices and urged drivers to remain vigilant on busy roads such as M-13.
