West Seattle Drive-By Shooting Leaves One in Custody, Another Suspect Still on the Run
SEATTLE, WA — A quiet Tuesday morning in West Seattle was shattered by gunfire, prompting a swift police response and a continued search for one suspect still at large after a reported drive-by shooting. Authorities say one person is now in custody following the violent incident, which unfolded shortly before noon and has left the community shaken.
Seattle Police officers were dispatched around 11:30 a.m. to the 4100 block of 25th Avenue Southwest after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the area. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered numerous shell casings strewn across the street and a parked vehicle that had been struck by at least one bullet. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
As the investigation unfolded, officers reviewed security footage from nearby buildings and quickly spotted a man fleeing the scene on foot. Based on the video evidence and witness statements, authorities identified the fleeing individual as a possible suspect and began searching a nearby apartment building where they believed he might be hiding.
After a brief containment and search operation, police located and arrested a 23-year-old man inside the apartment. He was taken into custody without incident and is being held for investigation of assault in connection with the shooting. His identity has not yet been released, pending formal charges.
While conducting the investigation, police also located a black Audi sedan believed to have been used in the drive-by shooting. The vehicle was parked nearby and appeared to match descriptions provided by witnesses. Detectives secured a search warrant and combed through the vehicle, ultimately recovering a handgun and a box of ballistic-tipped ammunition—evidence that further supports the vehicle’s connection to the gunfire incident.
Despite this significant break in the case, police believe a second suspect associated with the black Audi remains at large. At this time, no detailed description of that individual has been provided, and investigators are urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or vehicles in the area to come forward.
Seattle Police Department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit is actively handling the case. Officers continue to collect surveillance footage, interview witnesses, and analyze forensic evidence in hopes of identifying and apprehending the second suspect.

This latest incident comes amid a growing number of gun violence cases in Seattle neighborhoods, raising fresh concerns about public safety and the effectiveness of current violence prevention efforts. Police have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting or whether the targeted car or residence was linked to the suspects.
