ENZIE, MORAY — A devastating two-car collision on the A98 near Enzie, just outside the coastal town of Buckie, has left two women dead and a man in serious condition. The fatal crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, and has sent shockwaves through the Moray community.
Emergency services were called to the scene following reports of a serious collision involving a Vauxhall Insignia and a Peugeot 2008. Despite the rapid response from police, paramedics, and fire crews, two of the vehicle occupants were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Scotland confirmed that the driver of the Vauxhall, a 32-year-old woman, and the female passenger of the Peugeot, a 77-year-old woman, died from their injuries. Their names have not yet been publicly released as next of kin are still being notified.
The 77-year-old male driver of the Peugeot was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by emergency helicopter. Hospital officials described his condition as serious but stable.
Sergeant Dave Cooper of the Road Policing Unit in Elgin expressed condolences and urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the two women who died,” said Sergeant Cooper. “An investigation into the circumstances is ongoing and we would appeal for anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has any dashcam footage that may capture either vehicle prior to the collision, to please come forward.”
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Police Scotland by calling 101 and quoting incident number 1354 of June 10.
The A98 was closed in both directions for several hours to allow for a full crash investigation and vehicle recovery. The road has since reopened, but the impact of the tragedy continues to be felt across the region.
Local residents have expressed deep sorrow and growing concern over the safety of the A98, which is known for high speeds and limited visibility in certain areas. Many are calling for enhanced safety measures along the route, including reduced speed limits and improved signage.
As the investigation continues, the Moray community mourns the loss of two lives and hopes for the recovery of the man still in hospital.
