JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville community is grappling with shock and sorrow following a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a local man on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 11, 2025. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) has confirmed that the fatal incident took place in the parking lot of Copeland’s of New Orleans, a popular restaurant located at 4310 Southside Boulevard on the city’s Southside.

Authorities have identified the victim as Kenny Mob, a Jacksonville resident known to many in the local community. According to investigators, officers were dispatched to the scene shortly before 3:00 p.m. following multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, officers found Mob suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency medical personnel immediately rendered aid, and Mob was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts of first responders and trauma staff, he was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses at the scene described a chaotic moment as patrons inside the restaurant and surrounding businesses heard the gunshots and scrambled for safety. Several individuals reported seeing a confrontation in the parking lot moments before the shooting occurred, though details remain under investigation.

“It happened so fast,” said one witness who wished to remain anonymous. “One second everything was normal, and the next, there were loud bangs and people were yelling and ducking. I saw a man lying near a vehicle. It was horrifying.”

JSO has not released any information regarding potential suspects, motives, or arrests at this time. Detectives with the Homicide and Crime Scene units canvassed the area late into the evening, reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and interviewing witnesses.

“This is an active investigation,” said JSO spokesperson Sgt. Angela Johnson. “We are urging anyone with information about the shooting, including video or eyewitness accounts, to come forward. Your assistance could be critical in helping us bring justice for Mr. Mob and his family.”

As news of Kenny Mob’s death spread throughout Jacksonville, social media lit up with tributes from family, friends, and community members who remembered him as a vibrant soul with a big heart and a magnetic presence.

“He didn’t deserve this,” one friend wrote on Facebook. “Kenny was always smiling, always showing love. He was more than just a name in a headline — he was our friend, our brother.”

Another post read, “RIP Kenny Mob. You were one of the realest. I can’t believe this happened. Prayers up for his family.”

JSO is encouraging anyone with information to call their non-emergency line at (904) 630-0500 or to submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).

The tragic loss of Kenny Mob has reignited ongoing concerns about gun violence in Jacksonville, particularly in public areas where residents expect safety and peace. Community leaders are calling for increased efforts to address violence through preventive outreach, conflict resolution, and collaborative policing.

For now, the city mourns yet another life lost to senseless violence, as a family prepares to lay their loved one to rest and a community waits for answers — and justice.
