Family Tragedy in Richland County: Margaret Gibson (Nisaha Blanco) Fatally Shot by Brother Dexter Fuller During Heated Argument

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — June 15, 2025 — A devastating tragedy unfolded in a quiet Richland County neighborhood Saturday evening when a family disagreement escalated into fatal violence. Authorities with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department have confirmed that 37-year-old Dexter Fuller has been arrested and charged with murder and weapons offenses in connection to the death of his sister, Margaret Gibson, who was also known by the name Nisaha Blanco.

The deadly incident occurred near Candlelite Drive, a residential area where neighbors were left stunned by the shocking events that took place just before nightfall. Deputies were dispatched to the scene following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Gibson lying unresponsive next to a vehicle, suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency responders performed lifesaving efforts and quickly transported her to a nearby hospital. Despite their best attempts, Gibson was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The emotional impact of the loss has sent waves through the community, with many describing her as a “gentle spirit” and a “loving, compassionate woman who cared deeply for her family.”

A Family Dispute Turns Deadly

According to preliminary investigations, the argument began inside a residence on Candlelite Drive and spilled outside, where it tragically escalated. Authorities have not disclosed the precise nature of the disagreement, but they confirmed it was domestic in nature and involved only family members.

Detectives say that during the course of the dispute, Fuller retrieved a firearm and opened fire on his sister. After the shooting, he fled the scene, prompting a manhunt in the area. However, in a surprising turn, Fuller reportedly returned to the scene a short while later and was taken into custody without further incident.

He is currently being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. His first court appearance is scheduled for early next week.

Community in Mourning

Family members, neighbors, and friends gathered over the weekend to remember Gibson. Vigils and prayer circles have formed outside the home where the tragedy took place, with candles lit in her memory. Social media has also been flooded with messages of love, remembrance, and disbelief, as those close to her struggle to come to terms with the senseless loss.

“She was a beautiful soul,” said longtime friend Charmaine Ellis. “To think that someone she loved and trusted could do something like this is heartbreaking. No family should ever have to experience this kind of pain.”

Gibson, believed to be in her early 30s, leaves behind several loved ones, including a young child, whose care and emotional wellbeing are now of grave concern to the remaining family.

A Pattern of Domestic Violence?

This incident has reignited urgent conversations surrounding domestic violence and mental health support within families. Advocates are calling for greater community outreach and intervention efforts to prevent disputes from turning into deadly encounters.

“It’s clear we need more resources—both at the family and community levels—to help people manage conflict before it leads to irreversible actions,” said local advocate Naomi Rutherford with South Carolina’s Family Safety Network. “No one expects to lose a daughter or sister in this way.”

Ongoing Investigation

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and additional details may emerge in the coming days. Detectives are reviewing evidence, including statements from witnesses and potential surveillance footage from the surrounding neighborhood.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or submit a tip online.

As the community grieves, many are left asking how a disagreement between siblings could turn so violently fatal. For now, friends and loved ones cling to memories of Margaret Gibson and hope that her story prompts healing, awareness, and justice.
