Binghamton Mourns the Sudden Loss of Nazar Logvis, 39-Year-Old Father of Four and Devoted Man of Faith

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — The city of Binghamton is mourning the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Nazar Logvis, a devoted husband, loving father of four, and respected member of the Slavic Christian community, who passed away unexpectedly on June 21, 2025, at the age of 39.

The news of Nazar’s passing has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving friends, neighbors, church members, and colleagues struggling to come to terms with the loss of a man described as humble, hardworking, and deeply faithful. Known for his selfless character and his deep commitment to his family and Christian values, Nazar’s absence will be felt profoundly.

A Life Rooted in Faith and Family

Born in Ukraine and later making his home in Binghamton, Nazar was a cornerstone of the Slavic Evangelical Church. He actively served as a youth mentor and deacon, always leading by example and offering quiet strength to those around him. His belief in service extended beyond the pulpit, as he was frequently involved in outreach programs that supported local families and newly arrived immigrants adjusting to life in the United States.

His life was marked by devotion to his wife, Yulia Logvis, and their four children, who range in age from toddler to teenager. Nazar was a hands-on father, never missing a moment to be there for his children. Whether helping with schoolwork, leading family prayers, or attending their sporting events and performances, Nazar’s presence was a constant source of love and support.

“He wasn’t just a father to his own kids—he was a father figure to many,” said Pastor Ivan Moroz of Slavic Evangelical Church. “He gave his time and heart without expecting anything in return. He lived his faith.”

A Sudden and Shocking Loss

Details surrounding Nazar’s sudden passing have not been publicly released, but sources close to the family confirm that he died unexpectedly at home. Emergency responders were called, but despite their best efforts, he could not be revived.

The shock of his death has been especially painful given his good health and active role in daily family life. His wife, Yulia, is now left to raise their children without the man she called “the foundation of our home.”

Remembered for Integrity and Compassion

Professionally, Nazar worked in construction and residential renovation. Colleagues recall him as reliable, meticulous, and committed to doing honest work. He was frequently sought after not only for his skills but for his fair dealings and willingness to go the extra mile for his clients and coworkers.

“He was the kind of guy who wouldn’t leave a job site until he knew everything was done just right,” said one former coworker. “He took pride in his work, but more importantly, he took pride in helping people.”

His quiet acts of kindness were countless. From assisting elderly neighbors with home repairs to volunteering at community events, Nazar exemplified servant leadership in everyday life.

Community Response and Memorial

In the wake of Nazar’s death, the Binghamton community has rallied around the Logvis family. A memorial fund has been created to help support funeral expenses and long-term care for his children. Friends and church members have offered meals, childcare, and round-the-clock support to help the family through their grief.

A candlelight vigil is planned for Thursday evening at Slavic Evangelical Church, followed by a public funeral service on Saturday, June 28, at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow at Glenwood Cemetery.

An Enduring Legacy

Though his time on earth was short, Nazar Logvis’s impact was immense. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched through his faith, his family, and his everyday acts of generosity and goodness. Those who knew him will remember him not for grand gestures, but for the consistency of his love and the quiet dignity with which he lived.

As his church family and loved ones grieve, they do so knowing that Nazar’s life reflected his core belief: to live humbly, serve faithfully, and love deeply.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Slavic Evangelical Church Youth Ministry or the Logvis Family Memorial Fund. Arrangements are being handled by Allen Memorial Home in Endicott.
