Teen Charged as Adult in Fatal North St. Louis Gas Station Shooting That Killed 15-Year-Old Jamar Hamilton
ST. LOUIS — A teenager has been formally charged as an adult in connection with the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Jamar Hamilton outside a north St. Louis gas station last November, authorities confirmed Wednesday.
The suspect, who was 17 years old at the time of the shooting and has since turned 18, was certified as an adult by the Juvenile Court on June 18, 2025. Following this certification, the Circuit Attorney’s Office filed serious charges including Murder in the Second Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and two counts of Armed Criminal Action.
The incident took place shortly before 1:40 a.m. on November 12, 2024, at the Speedy Gas Station on the 8800 block of North Broadway. Police responded to reports of gunfire and found Hamilton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to initial investigation, Hamilton was part of a group of individuals present when an exchange of gunfire erupted between them and occupants of another vehicle.
