AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. — The Aiken County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 31-year-old Austin William Zabilowicz, a Jackson resident who tragically succumbed to life-threatening injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash last month. Zabilowicz passed away on Friday, June 21, 2025, at 4:52 p.m. while undergoing intensive medical treatment for the injuries he suffered in the accident.

The crash, which occurred in late May, was described by authorities as a violent and devastating collision. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene immediately following reports of a serious motorcycle accident involving a single rider. First responders found Zabilowicz critically injured and initiated life-saving measures on-site before transporting him to a nearby trauma center for further care.

Despite the efforts of medical professionals and the support of his loved ones, Zabilowicz’s condition remained grave throughout his hospitalization. According to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, he never recovered from the extensive injuries and complications arising from the crash. His official time of death was recorded at 4:52 p.m. on Friday.

An autopsy has been scheduled to further examine the cause of death, though initial findings attribute it directly to injuries sustained in the motorcycle wreck. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, though foul play is not suspected.

Zabilowicz’s death has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the broader community. Known for his spirited personality, love of motorcycles, and deep loyalty to those he held close, he is being remembered as a young man with a passion for life and an unwavering sense of adventure.

“Austin had a heart full of fire and a smile that could light up any room,” said a family friend. “He lived life fast and full, and he loved hard. This is a devastating loss for everyone who knew him.”

Community members in Jackson and surrounding areas are rallying around the Zabilowicz family in their time of mourning. Plans for a memorial service are currently underway, with details expected to be announced in the coming days. A GoFundMe campaign has also been created by close friends to assist the family with funeral and medical expenses.

As authorities continue their investigation into the fatal crash, loved ones are focusing on honoring Austin’s memory and legacy. His tragic death marks yet another sobering reminder of the risks involved in motorcycle travel and the importance of roadway safety.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office, in collaboration with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, will release additional findings once the autopsy is completed.

For now, the community grieves the untimely loss of a young man gone far too soon. May Austin William Zabilowicz be remembered not just for how he died, but for the energy, love, and light he brought into the lives of others.
