Man Accidentally Shoots Himself in Thigh While Sitting in Car on Toledo’s Woodstock Avenue

TOLEDO, Ohio — June 25, 2025

A man was injured early Wednesday morning in an accidental shooting while sitting inside his vehicle on the 600 block of Woodstock Avenue in Toledo, according to Toledo Police.

Officers responded around 1:40 a.m. to reports of gunfire in the neighborhood. Upon arrival, they found the man suffering from a gunshot wound to his thigh. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the incident was accidental and there is no suspicion of foul play. Preliminary investigation indicates the firearm discharged unintentionally while the man was inside his car.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances, but police remind the public about the importance of firearm safety and responsible handling to prevent similar accidents.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
