Heartbreak in Columbia: 42-Year-Old Monique Worthy Found Dead in Suspected Domestic-Related Shooting

 

 

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. — June 30, 2025

There is profound heartbreak in the Levity Street neighborhood of Columbia after 42-year-old Monique Worthy was found dead inside her home Sunday night. What should have been a joyful birthday celebration turned into a tragic scene as police responded to reports of a shooting.

Authorities believe the fatal shooting was domestic-related. Officers discovered Worthy deceased upon arrival, and the investigation is ongoing.

“This is a devastating loss for the community and the family,” said Columbia Police Department Lieutenant Jessica Harrell. “We are committed to finding answers and bringing justice.”

Neighbors and friends expressed deep sorrow and shock.

“Monique was a kind soul, always willing to help,” said longtime resident Angela Simmons. “This news has left us all heartbroken.”
