Sonora Woman Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash in Jamestown; Driver Arrested for DUI

 

 

JAMESTOWN, CA — July 9, 2025 — A devastating early morning crash in the Jamestown area has left one woman dead and her husband behind bars, facing serious charges. Authorities have identified the victim as Julie McCaskill Jensen, 54, of Sonora. She was tragically killed in a single-vehicle collision that occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday, July 5, in a quiet residential area of Peppermint Circle.

Her husband, Jack Jensen, 61, was driving the vehicle when it veered off the road, collided with multiple trees, and backed into a utility pole. He was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred at approximately 12:08 a.m. as the couple’s vehicle was traveling along Peppermint Circle, just west of Peppermint Lane. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle lost control and left the roadway. The force of the crash caused significant damage and claimed Julie’s life at the scene.

Emergency responders arrived quickly but were unable to revive her. Jack Jensen sustained minor injuries and was treated before being taken into custody.
