TWO RESCUED IN NOEL WATER INCIDENT; ONE RECEIVES CPR AFTER GOING OVER DAM

 

 

 

NOEL, MO — On the evening of July 20, 2025, at approximately 5:44 p.m., the City of Noel Fire and Rescue responded swiftly to a water emergency involving two individuals in distress near a local dam.

McDonald County Dispatch alerted first responders that two people were in the water, with one having gone over the dam. Fire personnel arrived promptly and entered the water to assist.

During the rescue effort, firefighters found one victim unresponsive and immediately began performing CPR to stabilize the individual. Using a stokes basket, a specialized rescue device, they safely extracted the victim from the water and transferred them to Freeman EMS for urgent medical care and transportation to a hospital.

The second victim was able to walk out of the river with the help of firefighters, sustaining less serious injuries.

The City of Noel Fire Department extends its heartfelt prayers to both victims and thanks all responding agencies for their critical assistance.

The incident remains under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Division, who are examining the circumstances surrounding the event.

Authorities remind the public of the inherent dangers of water near dams and urge everyone to exercise caution.
