Tragedy in Temescal Valley: Beloved Mother Vickie Larsen Hultstrand and Motorcyclist John Teply Killed in Devastating Head-On Collision

A tragic head-on collision on a rural stretch of Knabe Road in Temescal Valley claimed the lives of 44-year-old Vickie Larsen Hultstrand and 41-year-old motorcyclist John Teply. The fatal crash occurred shortly before noon on Sunday, July 21, leaving the community in mourning and two families shattered by loss.
According to authorities, Vickie Larsen Hultstrand was driving her Tesla with her children inside when John Teply, riding a motorcycle southbound at a high rate of speed and reportedly driving erratically, crossed into the northbound lane. The two vehicles collided head-on with devastating force.
The impact threw Teply from his motorcycle, and his body landed inside the Tesla’s cabin, reportedly in Vickie’s lap. Emergency responders found Vickie’s children shaken but thankfully with only minor injuries. They were treated on site and did not require hospitalization.
