APPLETON, WI — A wave of sorrow has swept through Appleton and the greater Menasha community following the heartbreaking loss of Kevin Tesch, a deeply respected educator, mentor, and friend. Kevin, who was in his early 50s, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a powerful legacy of compassion, dedication, and kindness that resonated with everyone who knew him.

A proud member of Menasha High School’s Class of 1992, Kevin was the kind of person who never stopped making an impact. Whether as a teacher, a friend, or a brother-in-law, he brought light to every room and left people better than he found them. His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of family, friends, students, and colleagues.

A Life Devoted to Education and Service

Kevin’s love for learning and helping others led him to pursue a career in education. He studied Elementary and Middle Education at Marian University (Wisconsin) and later went on to study Social Work at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. He carried that passion into the classroom through his work with the Appleton Area School District, where he helped shape the lives of countless students over the years.

To those who knew him personally, Kevin was more than just a teacher—he was a mentor, a counselor, a comedian, and a loyal friend. He was someone who listened without judgment, encouraged with sincerity, and brought people together with his sharp wit and giant heart.

“Wow… this one hit hard,” wrote a classmate. “Kevin’s heart was bigger than life. He had a gift for making people laugh, feel safe, and feel important. I’m forever grateful for his friendship.”

Memories from a Life Well-Lived

Kevin’s most recent appearance at the 30th reunion of Menasha’s Class of 1992 in 2022 is now remembered fondly by his former classmates. Photos from the event have been shared online—capturing Kevin’s signature smile, his bear hugs, and his ability to light up the room with one of his signature jokes.

“RIP Kevin Tesch. You were one hell of a brother-in-law, friend, and schoolmate,” shared another friend. “I’ll cherish the talks, the laughs, the memories. My heart aches for your family, your friends, and your students. You made such a difference.”

Kevin’s absence will be felt most deeply by those closest to him—his loving family, friends who considered him a brother, and students who saw him as a role model. For many, Kevin was the safe place they needed, the cheerleader they didn’t expect, and the shoulder they leaned on without asking.

A Lasting Legacy of Love

While the cause of Kevin’s passing has not been publicly shared, his legacy is not defined by how he left this world, but rather how he lived in it. He lived generously, he cared deeply, and he loved openly.

“Have a nipper and a Miller Lite with Ma and Pa Tesch for me,” wrote one tribute. “Love you, bro. You’ll never be forgotten.”

As the Tesch family prepares to celebrate Kevin’s life, arrangements for services will be announced in the coming days. The community is encouraged to keep his loved ones in their thoughts and prayers.
