Road Rage Incident Turns Deadly: North Shore HS Football Player Killed After Pool Party Shooting
HARRIS COUNTY, TX — July 23, 2025 — What began as a road rage confrontation on Kuykendahl Road has culminated in tragedy just two weeks later, leaving one young life lost and another teen behind bars.
On July 6, in the early hours just before 3 a.m., 17-year-old Chace Zion Wade Calicut was driving a black Cadillac Escalade through north Harris County accompanied by his North Shore High School football teammate, 17-year-old Isaiah Phillip. According to court documents, the pair engaged in a dangerous pursuit of two other teenagers they knew from school.
Road Rage Incident Escalates on Kuykendahl Road
Court records reveal that Calicut aggressively swerved, braked, and attempted to force the Hyundai Sonata, driven by one of the other teens, off the roadway. The situation quickly escalated when Phillip allegedly pulled a handgun and aimed it at the fleeing Sonata.
As the driver attempted to escape by executing a U-turn, gunshots were fired from the Escalade. Both victims reported feeling terrified for their lives as they fled the scene. A friend trailing behind witnessed much of the chaotic confrontation and confirmed to investigators that Calicut drove aggressively after the Sonata and that Phillip fired a weapon during the chase.
Miraculously, no one was injured during the road rage incident itself.
Tragic Shooting at Pool Party Claims One Life
However, the tension and violence did not end there. Just two weeks later, tragedy struck at a northeast Harris County pool party when one of the teens involved was shot and killed.
Authorities identified the deceased as Isaiah Phillip, the same 17-year-old who allegedly brandished the handgun during the road rage incident. The circumstances surrounding the shooting at the pool party remain under active investigation.
Legal and Community Response
Following the initial road rage confrontation, Chace Zion Wade Calicut was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
The North Shore High School community is grappling with the shocking loss of Isaiah Phillip, a teammate and student whose life was cut tragically short. School officials and coaches have expressed condolences to the families involved and are providing counseling resources for students affected by the incidents.
“This is a heartbreaking situation for our school and community,” said a spokesperson for North Shore High School. “We are committed to supporting our students through this difficult time.”
Ongoing Investigation
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the pool party shooting and any possible connections to the prior road rage incident. No further arrests have been reported as of this time.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about either event to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigations.
A Cautionary Tale on the Consequences of Violence
The series of events underscore the devastating impact that moments of anger and impulsive decisions can have on young lives. As the community mourns, there is a growing call for increased awareness around conflict resolution and violence prevention among teens.
