WOMAN ARRESTED FOR AIDING SHOOTER IN DEADLY AMAZON FULFILLMENT CENTER ATTACK

JOLIET, IL — July 23, 2025 — Months after a deadly shooting rocked an Amazon Fulfillment Center in Joliet, authorities have arrested a woman accused of playing a pivotal role in the violence. She allegedly supplied the gun used in the attack and helped the suspected shooter flee the scene, according to the Will County Sheriff’s Office.

Arrest Made in Connection to April 28 Shooting

Amyri Ross, 19, was taken into custody earlier this week and is now facing charges of second-degree murder and being an accessory after the fact in connection with the April 28 killing of 21-year-old Daylon Anthony, a former Amazon employee.

Investigators say Ross knowingly handed the suspected gunman, 18-year-old Carlgene Nash, a firearm before the deadly encounter, and later helped him escape the area without assisting the dying victim.

The attack happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Amazon warehouse located on Rowell Avenue, a major distribution hub for the region. Witnesses and surveillance footage captured the moment Nash confronted Anthony, fired multiple rounds, and fled the scene in a vehicle allegedly driven by Ross.

Details Emerge in Investigation

Authorities say Nash was still an employee at the facility when the shooting occurred, while Anthony had recently ended his employment there. The motive remains under investigation, but law enforcement sources believe the confrontation was premeditated.

Ross allegedly arrived at the Amazon facility with Nash on the night of the incident, bringing a black bag that contained the firearm later used in the killing. After the shooting, investigators say she quickly drove Nash away from the scene, never calling 911 or rendering aid to Anthony.

“This was a calculated and cold-blooded act,” said a spokesperson for the Will County Sheriff’s Office. “Not only did Ross provide the weapon, she facilitated the getaway and obstructed justice in a homicide investigation.”

Amazon Responds: ‘Safety Is Our Priority’

In a statement following Ross’s arrest, Amazon officials reaffirmed their commitment to workplace safety:

“We are heartbroken over the loss of our former team member and continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement. The safety and security of our employees is our top priority.”

The company has since increased security at the Joliet facility, including more cameras and on-site personnel during overnight shifts.

Community Reaction and Legal Outlook

The arrest of Ross has sparked strong reaction across the Joliet community, with many expressing outrage that someone could enable such violence, especially at a major workplace hub.

“She handed him the gun and drove him away. That’s not a bystander — that’s an accomplice,” said a local activist demanding justice for Daylon Anthony.

Ross remains in custody awaiting a court appearance, while Nash is already facing second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon charges stemming from his arrest in early May. Both suspects could face additional charges as prosecutors review the case.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that others may have helped plan or conceal the incident.

Public Urged to Come Forward

The Will County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for any additional information related to the April 28 shooting — including communications, video footage, or witness accounts that may aid the prosecution.
