Early Morning Tragedy
At approximately 6:05 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1600 block of Franklin Avenue, where they discovered a man with fatal gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Just minutes earlier, less than a mile away, another man was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound near the intersection of North Miro and Mandeville streets. Authorities say the proximity in both time and location suggests the shootings may be related, though no official connection has yet been confirmed.

The New Orleans Police Department’s Homicide Unit quickly launched an investigation into both shootings. Crime scene investigators were observed collecting evidence and canvassing for witnesses in both locations.
