Prince Albert Police Confirm Third Homicide of 2025, Victim Identified as 39-Year-Old Wayne Keller
PRINCE ALBERT, Saskatchewan — July 30, 2025
Police in Prince Albert have launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of a man’s body in the city’s East Flat neighbourhood earlier this week. Authorities have now identified the deceased as Wayne Keller, 39, marking the city’s third confirmed homicide of 2025.
According to a statement released by the Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS), officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of 5th Avenue East at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, after receiving a report of a deceased individual. Emergency personnel from Parkland Ambulance also responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, first responders located Keller’s body outside a residential property. The Forensic Identification Section and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service were called in to assist with the investigation, and the area was secured for several hours while evidence was collected.
A forensic autopsy was completed on Wednesday, July 30, confirming that the death is being treated as a homicide. Police have not disclosed the cause of death or any potential motive.
Investigation Ongoing, No Arrests Made
As of Thursday, police have not made any arrests in connection to the killing. The case is being handled by the Major Crimes Unit, which is appealing to the public for any information that may assist in identifying suspects or determining the circumstances surrounding Keller’s death.
“Investigators are asking anyone who may have had recent contact with Wayne Keller, or who may have observed suspicious activity in the area, to come forward,” said the police in a written release. “No detail is too small.”

Community Response and Safety Concerns
The announcement of Prince Albert’s third homicide this year has raised renewed concern among residents, particularly as the investigation continues without a suspect in custody. While overall crime trends in the city have fluctuated, incidents of violent crime remain a pressing concern.
Community leaders are urging calm while encouraging residents to assist authorities in any way possible.
“We are deeply saddened by this loss,” said one local official, speaking on the condition of anonymity. “This is a tragic reminder of the violence that continues to impact our community. Our thoughts are with Mr. Keller’s loved ones.”
The police have not indicated whether the homicide appears to be targeted or random in nature.
A City Seeking Justice
Wayne Keller’s death adds to a growing list of violent incidents under investigation by Prince Albert authorities in 2025. The city’s Major Crimes Unit remains active on several fronts, and investigators say additional updates will be released as more information becomes available.
At this time, officials are focusing on forensic analysis, canvassing the neighbourhood, and speaking with individuals who may have interacted with the victim in the days leading up to his death.
Anyone with relevant details is urged to speak with investigators.
