CLINTON, IL — A somber weekend at Clinton Lake ended in tragedy as officials have confirmed the identity of the man who drowned on Saturday evening. DeWitt County Coroner Randy J. Rice announced that Kyle N. Bounds, age 45, of Hudson, Illinois, was the victim in the incident that occurred on August 2, 2025.

According to the coroner’s report, Bounds was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:04 p.m. Preliminary findings indicate that the cause of death was drowning. Authorities have not released further information on the circumstances that led to the incident, but an investigation into the events preceding the tragedy is ongoing.

The DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office, along with emergency responders from local fire departments and water rescue teams, responded swiftly to the emergency call placed late Saturday afternoon reporting a possible drowning in the waters of Clinton Lake.
