In Loving Memory of William Marquez

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, the family of William Marquez announces his peaceful passing on July 23, 2025, at the age of 85, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Clearwater, Florida. William’s life was one of purpose, devotion, and remarkable strength, leaving behind a legacy of love, integrity, and wisdom that will live on through his children, grandchildren, and all those he touched.

Born on November 5, 1939, in San Roque, Medellin, Colombia, William was a proud Colombian who embraced his heritage while courageously seeking a better life for his family. His most courageous step was immigrating to the United States—a decision he made in hopes of securing freedom, opportunity, and a brighter future for the generations that would follow him. He never looked back, never wavered in his convictions, and carried no regrets—only pride and gratitude for the life he built and the family he cherished.

William is survived by his devoted wife, Myriam Marquez, with whom he shared a loving and enduring bond. He leaves behind his children: William Marquez, Andres Marquez, Steven Marquez, Sonia Marquez, Elizabeth Marquez, and Allyson Marquez Chavez. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Edward Marquez, whose memory continues to be cherished by the family. William was also a cherished grandfather to nine grandchildren and a treasured figure among extended family and friends.

A Father’s Legacy

William’s children describe him as a strong, wise, and deeply compassionate man who led with quiet strength and unwavering moral compass. Each of them shared a special and unique relationship with him—marked by meaningful conversations, shared adventures, and life lessons that will be carried forward for generations.

“The memories of camping with him made adventures more exciting. He taught us to flow when things didn’t go our way and to be fearless in the face of nature and its creatures. It was always a good time.”

“Dad’s legacy to me was our late-night wade fishing trips at the causeway. We’d debate religion and science under the stars. From him, I learned to embrace both education and spirituality with an open heart, and to value every perspective.”

“When I asked him what his greatest legacy was, he said it was moving to the United States to avoid Communism and give us a chance at prosperity. To me, his greatest legacy is the wisdom he passed on—wisdom that we now pass on to his grandchildren, his ultimate legacy.”

“I admire how beloved my father was. His leadership, morals, intuition, and emotional intelligence shaped me and inspired others. He supported me through my decisions—even when he didn’t agree—and gave me the space to grow into the woman I am today.”

William was not only a guiding light to his family but also a source of strength and comfort to many. His calm demeanor, deep intellect, and prophetic wisdom made him a natural mentor, a trusted advisor, and a cherished friend. His love knew no bounds, and he gave freely of his time and heart to all who needed him.
