CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio – A shooting late Saturday night at the Cuyahoga County Fair left one person injured and two suspects in custody, authorities confirmed Sunday morning.

The incident occurred just before midnight on the fairgrounds during the final weekend of the popular event, which officials say has seen record-breaking attendance this year. According to investigators, one suspect was found in possession of a firearm, and a single live round was recovered at the scene.

Law enforcement officers responded within minutes to reports of “shots fired.” Police radio transmissions captured the tense moments as officers urgently called for backup and requested an ambulance, reporting that a victim had been shot. Deputies on site rendered immediate medical aid before the victim, who was reportedly conscious, was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.

In a statement released at 12:39 a.m. Sunday, fair officials confirmed the shooting and said they are cooperating fully with law enforcement. “We have been made aware of gunfire that has occurred on our fairgrounds on Saturday evening, August 9, 2025,” said fair spokesperson Candyce Traci. “It will be with due diligence that we make media outlets aware of the situation as soon as more details become available.”

Despite the incident, fair organizers announced that the event would reopen Sunday under normal hours, from noon to 10 p.m. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the suspects or the victim, and the motive remains under investigation.

The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information to come forward.
