AKRON, OH — With heavy hearts, family, friends, and the Akron community are mourning the loss of Melanie Marie Dye, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, who passed away on August 7, 2025, at the age of 30. Born on May 19, 1995, in Akron, Ohio, to Michael and Shannon (Mushisky) Dye, Melanie’s life was a reflection of love, kindness, and selflessness.
A Life Dedicated to Learning and Hard Work
Melanie graduated from Ellet High School in 2013, where she was remembered as a bright and caring student. She later pursued further education at Stark State Community College, fueled by her love of learning and desire to grow.
For the past seven years, she worked as a credit report analyst at Carter Lumber, where she was known not just as a valued employee, but as a loyal friend. Her colleagues describe her as a warm presence who treated co-workers like family, always offering support, encouragement, and laughter.
Her Love for the Outdoors
Melanie’s happiest moments were spent outdoors, particularly near the water. Family vacations to Myrtle Beach were a treasured tradition, where she enjoyed swimming, combing the shoreline for shark teeth, and making lasting memories.
She also found peace and joy at Wingfoot Lake, fishing with her rod and reel, often alongside her sons. Teaching Dawson and Bryson to fish was one of her proudest achievements as a mother — passing on her love for nature and simple, meaningful moments.
Hobbies, Passions, and Personality
When she wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, Melanie loved relaxing at home and gaming on her PS5. She had a big heart for animals of all kinds and was always the first to show compassion to creatures in need.
Those who knew Melanie say her spirit cannot be captured in words, but terms like kind, loving, and generous come close. She was deeply devoted to her family, took pride in being a mother, and always put others before herself.
Family and Loved Ones
Melanie was preceded in death by her grandfathers Frank Mushisky, James Dye, and Robert Bergey; grandmother Loyetta Roach; uncle Frank Mushisky; and cousins Nicole McGovern and Robert Dye.
She leaves behind her sons Dawson Dye and Bryson Morgan; parents Michael and Shannon Dye; sister Monica (Justin) Burns; grandmother Beverly Bergey; grandfather James Roach; niece Preslee Burns; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles who will hold her memory close — including uncles Big Jim, Bob, Little Jim, and Ron (Tina); aunts Michelle (Gregg) and Lisa (Mike); and cousins Erica, Caitlin, Josh, Jesse, Lauren, John, Jessica, Cody, and Summer, along with their families.
Honoring Her Life
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., immediately followed by a 7:00 p.m. memorial service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305.
Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate the beautiful life of a woman whose presence was a blessing to all who knew her.
A Legacy of Love
Melanie’s legacy lives on in the love she poured into her children, the joy she brought to her friends, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met. While her time here was far too short, her impact will continue to ripple through the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Her family asks that those wishing to honor her memory consider performing a simple act of kindness — whether it be helping a neighbor, comforting a friend, or supporting a local animal shelter — just as Melanie would have done.
