Minneapolis, MN — August 26, 2025 — Police are investigating a deadly shooting in south Minneapolis on Tuesday afternoon that may have involved multiple victims, according to officials at the scene.

The incident unfolded near Clinton Avenue and East 29th Street, just east of Interstate 35, shortly after reports of gunfire were received. Responding officers quickly secured the block, where a growing crowd of neighbors gathered behind police tape.

One Confirmed Fatality

Authorities have not released official details on the number of victims, but a white tent was set up on the sidewalk covering what appeared to be a body — suggesting at least one person was killed in the shooting.

Police say they are still working to confirm whether others were injured. Emergency crews were seen moving in and out of the area, and forensic investigators began documenting evidence as nightfall approached.

Investigation in Early Stages

So far, no arrests have been announced and no suspect information has been made public. Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses and reviewing nearby security cameras for possible leads.

“This is still a very active investigation,” a police spokesperson said. “We will release more details once they are confirmed.”

Shock in the Community

Residents say the incident has left the neighborhood shaken. Some described hearing multiple gunshots before police swarmed the area. Others expressed frustration with the continued rise in gun violence.

“It’s heartbreaking to see another life lost like this,” one neighbor told reporters. “We just want our streets to be safe again.”

What’s Next

Authorities are expected to release more information, including the identity of the victim and the circumstances leading up to the shooting, in the coming hours. Minneapolis police are urging anyone with information to contact investigators or Crime Stoppers.
