Chicago police reported that the violence began late Friday evening and continued through Monday morning, affecting communities on the city’s South and West sides the most.
Among the seven killed were several young men in their 20s and 30s, as well as a teenager. Dozens more were left injured, with victims ranging in age from teenagers to seniors. Police say many of the shootings appear to be connected to disputes, retaliatory violence, and in some cases, random acts of gunfire.
